Modern Christians target audience.

So lately I've been drawing up the second story for Modern Christians and already planning on the third story. And I got all kinds of other story I want to write up and draw that happen in the future. But I do wonder, what kind of Christians would like Modern Christians? It's not a super-hero comic or a fantasy comic. Though a few characters do have daydreams that could involve fantasy cretures. The main focus isn't to save people, though it could help. Some of the main characters do try to save others. Sometimes they succeed and sometimes they don't.It's a comic on Christian life, which is fiction though parts of it are based on my life and other's lives. It shows just about everything a christian teen or young adult can go through as a Christian and how they see Christanity and the world in their eyes. It's not for kids since theres some controversial things in the comic, such as where characters may question different ideas and values such as abortion and sex and they try to understand it from everyone's point of view. And they go into deep subjects involving social commentary, psychology, philosophy and more, just to become a better Christian and understand the world. But I still wonder if Christians would actually take their time to read it? Instead of passing it off as some kind of comic for kids like so many people do. I would like to be successful with it and gain some kind of respect like praised graphic novels get, where they get respected or honored by top critics or magazines. They know those works are well written and are treated with resepct as if they were fine literature.Or would it be easier to just say "This is not a Christian comic. It's a comic about Christians."? But I feel if I tried to put this comic into the mainstream or idependant comics, it wouldn't have a chance to be marktable? But then I feel that I have a better chance at putting this as a Christian comic because most Christian comics look alike in many ways and I feel Christian comics need a fresh new take on them.I really want comics, especially Christian comics to be taken more seriously, mostly by adults.

  • Oh don't worry, several of the characters I have planned out aren't Christians. Read my latest blog to see! :) And a few more characters in the future also!
  • hmm....ok, well, IMHO, if you want a broader audience for the book, don't just have it be about christians. Stick a priest and an aethist together on a mission, somewhere, somehow. Have them fall in love, and see what happens. Don't just spotlight the christian's POV, or have the Xian always come out on top, with the "right" answer. You know, be REAL, not religious.
Start with people, not "propaganda". (i.e. compelling characters, who will naturally flow into the conflicts and questions you want to address).
decide what KIND of future you are writing about: what have christians been through? what major worldviews are surrounding them? How are they a part of/apart from culture? What does the culture think about them?
If you want an adult audience for the book...then, have you tried writing for yourself? you are an adult audience. what do YOU want in a book?
just a few questions that popped into my head when i read your blog. hope it helps. =)
