Captain Orange Issue 2 Page 2

So, I started inking the second issue of Captain Orange. I was using the natural thicknesses of the pen set I have to give images in the foreground more umph. I'm looking at it and I was thinking... maybe I should just add thickness myself and not rely on what the pens say. Any thoughts?3448619663?profile=original

  • I like the camera angles on all three panels. And panels 1 and 3 look good as they are. I'd suggest thickening the foreground on panel 2. (that way there's more contrast between the feet and the robot) But after thickening panel 2, the others may look too thin?

I dunno, it's been a while since I've drawn with real dynamic camera angles. With my strip, I kind of use a sliding scale. I use a .5 mm for whatever is in the foreground and reduce size based on how far each background layer is. But then, my foregrounds are usually about the same scale, i.e. very few closeups. Looking back at some art from my old comic book style work, I manually thickened lines on closeups. Not that I'm some sort of authority on that, but just trying to speak from what I've tried.

  • I've no obligations as to when I'm "supposed" to be done, so I can do time consuming.
I have a set of Primacolor Makers that come with Chisel, Brush, and assorted Fine lines. The fine lines came in different widths so I was testing to see if they contrasted enough to help establish depth. I was doing graphic design before and I think someone got me these for that.
Currently, I'm drawing on a 9 x 12 inch sheet with 1/4 inch margin on top/bottom and 1/2 inch margin on the sides. They will be scaled down slightly to be printed at 6.75 x 10.25 through IndyPlanet.
    Thanks.
  • Oh yeah, just as important, what size are you drawing at?

  • I've heard of that being done, but it's time consuming.

What size pens do you use?
