Start on Adderall today...

Not too worried...this IS what I begged and begged my HMO for...despite my only diagnosis being Asperger's Syndrome...Though I thing I got that from being raised inside a PBS home but living in a MTV/BET culture... the charter schools were even worse than the public ones! The best case scenario I have right now is I lose only HALF of my brain...hopefully the left side...but keep me in your prayers that if things don't work out...The effects wear off over time....

  • You have to take a holistic approach in addition to medication. Exercise outside every day if possible. It helps me, the fresh oxygen and the blood recirculates. It could be your dosage is a little low, and they often start low because it is a controlled stimulant. I found Riddlin more stimulating, but it lasted half as long and there are more erratic mood ups and downs. I also feel you should eat food that's alive (vegetables and fruit), not dead (package or full of additives and preservatives) They put hydrogenated oils in everything and it is so horrible for people and clogs arteries. Overcoming ADD and depression requires a change in lifestyle, not just a new medication. It also takes time, and not all drugs work the same in all people. I take 20 mgs, 3X per day of adderall, and I also take wellbutrin XR, 300mgs (once daily). I would like to get off the wellbutrin soon, though. I hope that helps a little. You can do it, and the Lord will enable you with time, prayer, and patience.
  • well, the other stuff is stimulant stuff. i know that from doing a project or two on the subject of ADHD. but glad it's having an effect. it could be you grow used to the effect and don't notice it as much.
  • Antidepressents and Psychostimulants are supposidly opposites of each other...mine is supposed to kick in at least within 15 minutes at the smallest dosage...I was on a antidepressant called Bupropion or Celexia or something that wouldn't react to Adderal, but it wasn't helping so that's the reason for switching...the only real bad side effect is that I have to all but cut out my caffiene/chocolate intake....
  • Don't know about Adderall, but I know that most antidepressents (for example) can take from six weeks to three months before any real noticable positive effects kick in... give time...
  • Thanks...so far nothings happened save for the bummer that I can't have caffene OR cacao! Stimulant it ain't, you see...but I did notice that there was a spike in my short-term memory and recall, as well as a better sense of self, but this was very anticlimatic....as usual
  • My prayers are with you...
  • Dude, unless your taking some ridiculous dosage, I don't think there is going to be a problem. I've been on a lot of different stuff, for when I had AD/HD. Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall. All of those. They DO NOT turn you into an uncreative zombie. If I remember correctly they are actually stimulants! Not saying to abuse them, just that they will not shut down the right side of yer brain! Or the left for that matter.
