I think the art is pretty clear: a princess is pushing a massive amount of dessert at her poodle, who clearly doesn't want it. If that was your intent, you nailed it in one.
I think one area where this cartoon could be improved is the gag itself. One-frame gags (championed by pros like Gary Larson, The Far Side) have to be so ridiculous or link so strongly into view experience that the reader is engaged by it. Run this gag by friends and ask them how this situation could be made more ridiculous or biting.
I need some help with this piece. I am entering a contest next week and I need some feedback to what you like and don't like about this piece or perhaps were it can use some improvement. This is my second draft of this particular piece.
Here is the contest criteria: Your goal is to create a Princess and her pet side-kick. You can choose any style you want – anime, classic Disney, TV style, comic book, comic strip, or simplified and graphic. Really, anything you like! Please, create your own character designs, no copyrighted characters. The Princess should be human and the pet should be an animal. The animal can be any kind you want.
