  • Kirk my friend, you have truly blessed me today.
  • Who's to say that he won't have universal appeal?...One never truly knows what God's plan is, even when we think we know! Satan knows that this has global potential, and is afraid of that, so he's trying to plant the seeds of doubt that will keep you from bringing FrogBoy to those that need him. Don't let that happen, my friend...
  • Randy, Thanks for all of your comments. I appreciate the suggestions. Frogboy has been through quite a metamorphosis since his beginning
stages. When I first started drawing him he looked a bit like Kermit the frog, and even had a cape. I'm sure the more comics that I make he will continue to be tweaked until he has universal appeal (of course he will never have universal appeal, but I will definitely keep your comments in mind)
  • This is easily the best drawing of Frogboy you've got here, John. Fun stuff. My main comment would be that in the other drawings you've posted, his face isn't nearly as interesting as this one. I think it might be because of the added color, since this one's shaded, but the character loses a lot of appeal when he's in plain b&w. It also seems like he has trouble getting different emotions across, since he doesn't have eyebrows, or even lids. Is there something you could tweak to give his face a little more detail or appeal? I like his body design, and it seems like you've got the structure down in how you're approaching that, but the head tends to look flat, instead of round. Kindof "tacked on."

Maybe FB's eyes could keep their round shape coming out the top of his head? If they were independent shapes, you could squash them and stretch them for expression, and he'd look more cohesive. If you ink it just right, you could even pull off a more graphic/flat quality to the eyes (like they have thickness, but aren't spherical), while still maintaining the structure of the head.

Just some ideas, here. I'm not too sure what it is that keeps me from liking the character more, but there's gotta be something you could do to keep him looking more unified, and really draw my attention to the face.

    Just some random musings...

  • I could see this guy animated! Probably wouldn't be too difficult to give him blinking eyes and a moving mouth with speech bubble appearing.
