This review of GTA4 got me thinking:How is it possible for children to become so great at gang cimes in the cities around me including mine, when most of thier parents have such a low educational upbringing some of them didn't even get a high school diploma, and also have mental or other health disorders? These single moms or other dysfunctional parental system can barely work their way through the social service organizations, and some dont even expose their kids to mainstream media, music included! Many don't even want to support their children through even the most standard or even substandar public education systems, yet somehow before most of them turn 13 in many statistics, they become the models for video games such as GTA and like movies! What I can't figure out (probably for good reason when I was their age) is how they can learn these more -what's the word- restricted money earning skils such as pimping or drug trafficing when they cant barely score the free points for writing their name down on a SAT I exam! Who's giving them this knowledge?? Who is training them?? Who is recruiting them??I may never watch the Sopranos or The Godfather triology nor read their reviews and critiques; much less play GTA for myself! I would be intrested in creating a story around the character(s) which answer my questions above-in the setting/demographics of isolated districts of my city where these games/crimes are sadly common. It's probably been done many times already in other demographics, but this one I've lived around the most but it's more seculded than an South American Rainforest canniballistic Indian tribe! It is partly their fault, they see their "ghetto," or district as the only culture/demographic of "their" world, much less the rest of the city outside their district. I would want to make an aniamted film poetically displaying this flawied viewpoint to them. I just don't know how to do it and every time I try to gain more knowlege and empathy into their world I lose more and more the Christ-like attitude towards them. Yet such a project as I have described is the only 'talent' I have from the Father to invest into witnessing to them!I would want it to be more unique, less about these youth learning to be criminals like most mafia-genre movies go, and more about how the vanity and the consequences of their behavior keeps biting back at them thanks to the attitude of that region. I want to have them failing, not in the sense of incarceration, and not entirely because of murphy's law either...It isnt a evangelical narrative, but the ending to my "mentor" character and his "students" I want to move their development into a ready and willing state to attempt the other opprotunities they saw along the course of the movies, to change themselves into better people...from the Church to the socialist-backed organizations and leave it to the audience to guess which one went where...That would be a great crime drama -if that's what one would call it...It would be tempting to put myself as a character because it would be so easy for me to see why I couldn't be even a medeicore "OG," but I don't want to get on my citie's nerves that much......Anyone like the idea; and perhaps would want to help, or take it on (still in West Oakland or some setting like it) themselves?
