What style?

I have been drawing for several years now and I never knew exactly what style I drew in, I like anime/manga and try to go for that but it never turns out exactly like the Japanese stuff. What do you think is my style and what should I do more fine-tuning on? Any comments would be great! and if you'd like to see more this is the link to my blog

  • The more you draw and create, the less you will have to wonder about this or ask this question. Try to create your best work and that's your 'real' style. Working like somebody else is an empty pursuit.
  • Thanks Guys! This is so encouraging and helpful! I will definitely be trying to do more quick sketches, thanks so much for the tips.

  • i'd say you definitely have an asian influenced style- but don't feel like you have to make your stuff look just like your favorite shojo manga! Like Buzz said, have your influences, but find your own voice!

The color piece looks great- i also like your attention to accessories on characters.

i would say for your fine tuning- if you're looking to draw comics- then go for trying some sequential panel storytelling. stand alone images are cool and all- but to tell stories, youv'e got to know how to string them together, with words, to make something make sense. if you don't know what to write- there are tons of writers online who would love someone to play with one of their scripts! Plus, the more panels/pages you draw, the more your stuff will come together!

    Keep doing what you're doing!
