CHRISTIAN COMIC ARTS SOCIETY :: A NETWORK OF CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP FOR COMICS FANS, PROS, AND AMATEURS

What's this button do?

Hi!

I'm a bit late introducing myself and I suppose I shouldn't repeat what's on my page so let's see how I can reword things. (Did you know a Thing was a Viking get together?#homeschoolmom)

I've been drawing since I was little. I have almost no art education and no guidance from a mentor, so I tend to learn on the go and experiment with processes. Until this year I had never "inked" or "colored" or "digitized" any of my art. The idea of drawing on non-lined paper was overwhelming.

After becoming a Christian a few years ago, I've been attempting to get "serious" about my interests. I've given up pretty quickly after any exposure, but am trying to stick with drawing. I haven't been successful in any "practical" venues like print layout, web managing or advertising. There is one coffee shop owner who pays me for doing a bit of this and that, but I don't feel comfortable charging him a fee anything on the level of a professional.

Being a home schooling mom, it's a struggle to define when I'm "off." I refer to it as my "Spare Free Time." Nothing is more enjoyable to me than sitting down and either sketching out thumbnails or doodling a page.

Coloring is a pain, but hey, I'm new and speed will come with practice.

On the mater of Christ, I want to do a good job for Him. Defining what "good" and "job" is has been a big part of my journey. Separating what is "good" for Him and for mankind has been a struggle. I often feel like I have to settle with "good enough" and trust that my "best" will get "better" with time. I often struggle with my "job" or role in the world.

Wow, that got long pretty quickly! Hope it wasn't too boring! I look forward to the art and projects and fellowship on this site!

  • It is good to get to know you better. Welcome!

  • Welcome, Amy. Welcome to CCAS. If you need any tech general, I can probably help. Like, if you're new, it's pretty hard to beat the old software, renamed MangaLabo which was designed to digitize high page scene counts per save file(the multipage file saves handle over a hundred pages while still being stable), and since it was pretty much only for digitizing already drawn comics, it's overlooked, but at +/- $50 it's totally something worth looking at for what you are describing. As for comics, look at others, as so many people here are amazing at that, but not me presently.
  • Welcome Amy! All levels of artwork are accepted here!
