Two Prayer Requests

I've had an awesome time in Colorado! I head home tomorrow and won't be home until late at night. Anyway, I have two prayer requests:1. A boy at my church has been diagnosed with a rare brain disorder. I'm not sure entirely what it is, but I know it causes hearing loss and intellectual disability.2. My uncle was very sick last night and today. He ended up being rushed to the emergency room. It turns out he has intestinal blockage. Please keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for teaching Sunday school to kids with hearing loss and/or intellectual disabilities?

  • I actually already work with the kids at my church. I help my mom and was asking more on her behalf. We've both worked with kids before and are wondering how to accommodate the child I asked people to pray for. Thank you! :)

Are you going to be teaching Sunday School? Awesome!

I have taught Sunday school to a wide range of students. First you need to find out their base knowledge/skill level:

    1) if they're older and talk easily you can ask them questions about their likes and dislikes to make them comfortable, then get them to tell you their favorite bible story...or favorite Sunday school activity from a previous time.

    2) If they're younger or have trouble talking, choose a creative activity they enjoy (like drawing). Start with something they enjoy drawing and get them to explain it to you. Next have them draw a picture of their favorite bible story...and as they are drawing they can explain it to you.

Once you know where they're at in knowledge and abilities, you can think about how to take them the next step.

PS: I will pray for your Uncle and friend at church.
