Topic Exercise-Overcoming

Hey guys We're back for one more try to get our writing minds into shape. I apologize about my lack of entry last month. Not giving excuses, it was crazy and I need a little bit of this topic in my life. This month we're gonna overcome. Use these two verses as an idea starter, John 16:33, Jeremiah 1:19. A 4-7 pg script. We'll call the deadline Sept. 28. God Bless and remember Psalm 45:1.

  • Thanks for the KIND words. Feel free to draw anything I write here. The kid is not the bank robber or the husband. I flirted with the idea that he may be their kid. It was the husband that was arrested in the bar. I wanted to show vignettes of how God comes into our lives, and helps with our situation. The last verse our Pastor spoke on, on Sunday. How we should comfort others because we've been comforted by God. I do a keyword search on bible gateway to find topics, and I typed in comforted and found what he spoke on which I thought dove-tailed nicely.
  • ok. That was, for me, very very cool. The way you repeated the verse and then added to it and with the ever widening panels, gave this piece, an 'intense feel' to it. Very well worth it. I'd love to draw this someday.

Just 2 questions, is the little kid, supposed to be the bank robber also? Or the husband that beat his wife? Either way it was cool.

And who was it, that was arrested in the bar? The bank robber, trying to 'cope' with the Lady praying for him?

Anyway, this was too cool. Love this style of story telling. Intense and cinematic.

Here it is I finally got it done. I could give exuses but deadlines and me just have a way of ignoring each other.
  • I appreciate that Branson. Procrastination is an everpresent thorn in my side. I actually ended up using the verses that our pastor used on Sunday at the end of it. I'll try to get our next topic up soon, but I might put it off.
  • Very cool Dan. Worth the wait. ;-)

Ok Branson! My thoughts....Great story. Very clever title. A great reminder that there is no such thing as chance or coincidence or accidents, when you believe in an all knowing/powerful/present God.
But the most exciting thing about this story is not what is says, but what it implies. If you can get a reader to 'think' without giving to much away, then you know it was a good story.

This story got me thinking about all the times God stepped in and protected me/us. We may not know it but I bet there are countless times where God moved in the background of our lives and in other peoples lives around us, to get us to be in the right place and the right time, for our own good and protection.

For instance, when somethings don't go our way or we feel that God 'didn't come thru' for us, we are not seeing all that God sees. Maybe he let certain things happen the way they did, in order to protect us from something horrible and worse. I can't wait to find out all the things he's done for me, for my own good and protection.

It's Exciting to think that God is working behind the scenes of our lives, protecting and moving us closer to his will. As I mentioned, we may never know, while we are here on this Earth, all the things God has been doing for us, but when you think about it...wow, you realize that 'wow...I really matter to God, for him to take such great care of me.'

And also if this story was true, we could also come to the conclusion that the 'police showing up' wasn't just for Father Peters benefit, but also for the 2 Punks. God kept them from doing something that they would later regret. God also moves in our enemies lives as well. That just shows more of Gods loving character.

Anyways, sorry this was so long winded. But you did a great job. I've heard it said, 'That a great writer, doesn't give away all the answers, but causes the reader to seek them out, himself. "

For me, you did just that. ^_^
