Star Wars Question

In episode 3 Aniken Skywalker embraces the dark side of the Force. He says in the final battle, "If you're not with me, then you're my enemy". Which seemed to me is almost a quote from Jesus. At which point Obi Wan declares, "Only Siths deal in absolutes!"Is this a not so subtle jab at Christians and Christianity?

  • Star Wars draws a lot from many sources, but I think there's much to discuss here for Christians who might want to discuss with non-Christian friends. In the Prequels and Clone Wars animated series specifically, I've often thought the Jedi (which is pretty much like a religion in the Star Wars galaxy) and their failure to recognize evil until it's too late a compelling warning.

    • Rogue left me thinking that people worship the Force. "I am with the Force and the Force is with me."

The Jedi seem to be more an order of priests that have mastered the Force.

  • Perhaps.

Ironically, "Only Siths deal in absolutes!" is an absolute.
