As I shared in another recent post, the early '70s was the time of "the Jesus movement" and even secular media, including comics, could not ignore what was happening.  This Robin solo story backup, "Soul-Pit", which appeared in Batman #239 in 1972 has Robin walking with friends (likenesses of comics artists Berni Wrightson, Al Weiss, and others) on Gotham City's Bleecker St. (the real one is in the East Village in NYC) where they encounter some young people doing some street evangelism, but a heated argument erupts.  Have a look at these panels...
