Hi all,I'm new to the boards, but was wondering if you all had any ideas about what I could write about for my research paper. The paper is on graphic religion, more specifically Christian ideals represented in comic books. I intend to discuss how Christian Comic books can provide both Hegemonic and Anti-hegemonic ideas, how it can be used as missionary media or for pure entertainment, how comic books can be used to discuss taboo or difficult ideas and finally why Comic Books are so popular to discuss religious ideas in general.Anyone know any books or resources I could look at or just some thoughts? Thanks!Matt

I wrote a short (now quite dated) history of recent Christian Comics
in the Proverbs & Parables book. This can be purchased from the New
Creation Now web site. Also you might want to read my reviews of
recent Christian comics on the review section of this web site.
Alec Stevens has written and published a book of a influence, early
Christian cartoonist that might be helpful to you. You also will want to
check out Nate Butler's web site. He has a large section on Christian
cartoonists and comic books artists. Also the Treasure Chest comics are
on line now (these were published by the Roman Catholics for many years).
You may also want to visit Jack Chick's web site. He has to be the largest
publisher of Christian comics tracts.

I know that this post is pretty old, I would love to hear more about how your paper turned out.

Hope that helps a little.

Welcome to CCAS! This is a interview/review I did for my comic, but maybe it will help you with your paper too. :) http://comicbookjesus.wordpress.com/2008/08/31/jackket-knightmare-r...
