Announces the Release of Lightweightz: The Anthology Part One
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oakland, CA. Justin Martin, educator, writer and founder of R-Squared-Comicz is proud to release his first comic, Lightweightz: The Anthology Part One, available today for purchase as a pdf on www.rsquaredcomicz.com. It is drawn and colored by the very talented Przemyslaw R. Dedelis (arucardpl@gmail.com) and Lya (lyacuello@gmail.com), respectively.
Based on 1 Corinthians 12:7 (“Now to each one the manifestation of the spirit is given for the common good”), Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Oneintroduces readers to the first four Lightweightz, teenagers who discover they have unique abilities. It focuses on the impact these abilities have on their lives, and how they choose to use and make sense of these abilities. It begins with the high-achieving Solomon, who must drastically shift his priorities in the wake of a tragedy. Next is Grace, who’s unhappy with many of the choices she’s made, and is looking for a change. Then there’s Abaddon, the rebel in search of his true identity. And last but not least there’s Kayin, who’s determined to do what she feels is necessary to preserve what matters most.
One of the things that makes these teens different from other super-powered teens is that each of their abilities will be interpersonal in nature, having a direct bearing on how they relate to others. “The general question I want to pose with Lightweightzis ‘What would you do if you had the ability to relate to others in a more significant way?’”, says creator and writer Justin Martin. And since their abilities are merely exaggerations of things people do when trying relate to others, Justin hopes that readers will be able to connect with each of the characters on some level: “My hope is that readers will look at these abilities not as something ‘alien’ to the human experience, but simply an entertaining exaggeration of it”.
Whether it’s Solomon’s search for the truth, Grace’s pursuit of hope, Abaddon’s need to belong, or Kayin’s determination to make a difference, each of the Lightweightz are struggling to make sense of a world that suddenly looks different through the lenses of their newly-discovered abilities. And with a diverse group of characters and experiences, Lightweightz: The Anthology Part Onehas something for everyone. So get your copy, and let your light shine!
