CHRISTIAN COMIC ARTS SOCIETY :: A NETWORK OF CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP FOR COMICS FANS, PROS, AND AMATEURS
At my job, I am the only Christian on my shift and we were discussing that if we met the one person what would we do. I said Jerry Rice and I would minister the word to him and hope to lead him and his family to Christ. Now I said artist in this forum so who will it be? There are alot of artist that I admire, but let's make it hard, just one. For me all artist, hehehe, but it would be Hunberto Ramos, (I know I met him and didn't minister to him, but there will be another time) I believe it will be a little easier to talk to him about God because although he is not Christian, he does not deny he has faith, so I think it would be him. I know this isn't going to be easy, there are alot of favorite artist that I will be ministering to, but if I could sit and talk to one it may be him. Who is it would you like to minister to?

  • Masami Hoshino, a Japanese mangaka that I have had the pleasure to meet with during two of our trips to Japan. We were even privileged to stay in her home and her parent's home. She is definitely not a Christian but does not also appear to have any devotion to the two top religions in Japan (Shintoism and Buddhism). She is married and has a young daughter. I enjoy her company and she does know English pretty good. She knows I'm a Christian but I really haven't had the opportunity to share the Gospel with her. Some time back her mother went through breast cancer and I did let Masami and her mother know that I had been praying for Mrs. Hoshino. Otherwise I haven't been able to find a way to reach her for Christ.

Japan is a difficult mission field. People tend to be both materialistic and superstitious there, as well as syncristic--they will blend elements from different beliefs together. Not to mention the group think attitude--if a Japanese converts they are considered less "Japanese."
  • I agree with that comment. Only Jesus can heal the pain and hopefully he will repent and give it all to the Lord.
I got a copule of comment of who my work is similar to. I got Romita Jr. and Humberto Ramos and I am a fan of both so I was happy about that, but I just want to have my own voice.
  • I wouldn't blame him for that, especially since he doesn't know what true forgiveness is with God so how can he forgive? But I know with Christ he will find that forgiveness and healing, he will be made whole. :-D
And I know it's not a bad thing that our art is so similar I think it's purposely a God thing if you know what I mean. ;-)

met him and interviewed him also. Nice guy,but he is quiet. He has alot of unforgiveness in him. We were told by his friend that before we interviewed him, not to ask him about the death of brandon lee, he has blamed himself for his death. And the book the crow was based on his emotions of the death of his girlfriend. So yes, Pray for him that is someone that needs some healing. Don't we all. That is a compliment to be told that your work is similar to his.
  • Thank you sir. All the praise goes to the Father who, I fail Him, but as King David does, repent, and I find that is the best thing. Iron sharpens Iron.

Praise God! It is always encouraging to see someone whose heart is soft, who examines their own feelings and motives when "rebuked" instead of attacking others, and who is so quick to repent. Thank you for your example, brother. May we all learn from you.

First off I would like to apologize to anyone who read my comment. As a christian I need to set an example of the love of christ and I did not represent him with that comment. I thank you Bro. Bruce for God using you to see that my comment was very rude and harsh and based on my experience. I was talking to my wife and I believe that my comment was more aimed at the fact that it was my experience with him and I had a resentment for him. So I had asked the Lord to forgive me as I repented and to remove any bitterness I have towards him or any other person. This is good, deep feelings that are rooted or surpressed were dealt with. Thank you Lord. Again except my apologgies to anyone who I may have offended with my comment. You too Frank, if your reading this. Hey this is good therapy.

  • One artist that I pray will know Christ soon is James O'barr. He goes regularly to a lot of shows I go to, but I never really met him until I kept getting my art/character compared to his. So I got curious and kind of wanted to meet him, just to see the connection, but it took his webmaster noticing me walking by the table every five minutes to kind of get me to finally talk to him.
So when I showed the comic, and yeah ok are art is slightly similar. :P Anymoo, the more I learned about him personally the more I see him a lot like the boy in my story, I feel a connection to him my heart just feels so much for him and I believe that God put that compassion there so I believe that one day he will be my brother. :-D
Btw, I also gave him a copy of my comic at an anime show where we got to talk for quite a while. Anyway, that's my answer!

  • If I am able I would share the gospel to all who can hear, but it is more of "who". If you were to bump into your favorite artis, who is it?
  • "One artist that you admire, to share the gospel with."
"Who would you like to minister to?"

    God is real.
    Heaven and Hell are real.
    It is a simple proposition.
    Repent and be saved.
Or don't, and go to Hell.
Jesus saves from sin. Trust Jesus.
How much would I hate you to NOT tell you the good news?
  • I heard about that, he scrapped it because of the passion of the christ, so I heard. As far as Carlos Garzon he is a wonderful man and I am greatful to call him a friend. He live out here in Fl. and we used to work together at a face painting company. We have become close friends and he is a very humble and generous brother in christ.
