Not sure what direction to take my story

I'm having trouble deciding which way I want to take my story. I have some good ideas but don't know how to put them together into a cohesive narrative. Here's what I have:1. Brianna's powers are portrayed as a genetic disorder. She has to take special medication to control her powers and must attend "therapy" or "training" (whatever you want to call it) twice a month to learn how to use her body in different forms (i.e. Learning how to swim as a fish or fly as different types of birds). While she is eventually able to transform voluntarily, she'll always have to deal with changing forms at inopportune times.2. Brianna starts out in a very bad church situation. People don't like that she's a single mother and the "breadwinner" of the family. They constantly wonder why she doesn't just get married again. Her uncle (and the pastor of her church) doesn't want her to use her powers (there are other conflicts that come up with her and the other people in her church. I haven't decided what yet). After finally leaving the bad church situation, she starts to wonder whether she even believes in God. When a member of the forensics team invites her to his church, she comes forward during the invitation.3. Brianna struggles with depression, anxiety, and feelings of isolation because of her powers. She's deathly afraid of interacting with people because she doesn't want them to find out her secret. As she gets to know the people she works alongside, she realizes there are people she can trust AND that she can live a good life (even though it's far from what she expects).

  • I honestly don't know. I just don't feel like I know what I'm doing.
