Need help with a few plot points

So, I’ve decided to stay around for a while. I’ve been having A LOT of drama in my life and haven’t felt up to working on my series recently. Anyway, I’ve been thinking about a few things for my comic series:

1. I need to figure out a word to call Characters with SESH (selective extrasensory hearing. I just can’t have characters referring to them as “someone with extrasensory hearing” all the time after all.
2. I’m trying to decide how deep is too deep to go into the explanation of characters’ abilities. On one hand, I want to focus on the story, but on the other, I want the series to make clear that the characters’ “powers” are medical conditions with scientific explanations. I came up with a few scenes where Brianna goes to doctor’s appointments/ training sessions that have to do with her powers and a scene where Hazel (a character with SESH) and her husband are advised not to have children because of worry that Hazel’s condition (which has caused her A LOT of emotional pain) will be passed down genetically.

If I come up with anything else, I’ll let you know. Thanks so much for all the help you’ve given so far.
