CHRISTIAN COMIC ARTS SOCIETY :: A NETWORK OF CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP FOR COMICS FANS, PROS, AND AMATEURS

Introduction

Hello
I am a mediastrategy consultant living in Thailand. We have many projects in Asia. Look at www.comresources.org

Right now, we have a project targeting 18-25s in a big country near here and we are looking for an artist with a more mature style (not Manga). We intend to do 6 pages per week in B&W and 1 page in color.

I asked Nate for artists but I suspect the person could be on any nationality. We do have finances and expect/need to have the 1st 100 pages ready for the new school year. We see this as a multi-year effort.

Send me a private message with yr email and experience and I will reply out forum.

Dan

  • Not sure exactly. As far as I know he supports a local church in Bangkok inasmuch as possible.

You guys wouldn't perchance happen to know a Peter Dewit? (Likelihood zero.) Happens to be a missionary to Thailand as well.

Would love to help if I can - I pm'd you. I think.

    Cheers.
  • Hey Dan H!

    My name is also Dan!

If you're looking for a non manga style- i may not suit your project- and I probably couldn't do the 100 pages that quick- but my website is www.crazygoodcomics.com and features a pretty evangelical comic with humor and other life aspects of people of your target age group.

    http://www.crazygoodcomics.com/index.php?i=60
specifically starts one of my favorite bits on the gospel- its about 10 four panel strips which i've made into a tract, too.

anyway- it'll be in a book for the us market soon- but i'd love it if it could be used internationally- even if you thought it would better suit younger audiences.

but see what you think of what i have up (info about my other comics work is also up on my site) and let me know if you'd like to use any of it- i'd be honored if you did! and i'll be glad if you rewrote it some as it was translated into thai.

on another note, my friend Jerrell at http://theredr.com/ has top notch work which might be exactly what you're looking for. he's a member of the CCAS- but i don't think he really posts on the boards. i'm not sure if he's available in that time frame, but it doesn't hurt to check.

    I wish you the best!

  • Hi Dan, I just joined this site and yours is the first post I read, and guess what, you're living in Thailand.. so am I! haha.. I'm a missionary here since 1998 and my wife (a Thai citizen) and I have a worship music ministry where we focus on recording and writing original Thai worship music for the churches -- my site - www.whitelotusworshipmusic.com
I'm getting increasingly interested in comic style art and illustration and plan to do something in this area (as an evangelistic tool in Thailand, of course, I see that it may open great opportunities here)... I would love to see what your doing... and possibly meet/talk if possible.
    take care,
    Paul Hudson
