I don't know Mark Driscoll's work, but it's a good comic, I like your use of his stunned/zoning look in the 4th and 6th panels. The one thing I'd suggest is use a photo background for your cartoon character to make the panels seem more consistent with each other. I like your idea of a cartoon character interacting with photos of real people:)
