This black-and-white comics anthology is 80 pages in length, with full color covers, featuring stories from the Bible ("In the Beginning..." by yours truly, "In the Beginning was the Word" from the Gospel of John, "The Three Temptations," and "Messiah" by Todd Tennant), historical accounts ("The Real St. Patrick," "The Gospel Oak of Addlestone," and "George Washington Carver" by me), and a modern day testimony (of Filipino actor-turned-evangelist Fred Galang, a 34 page opus drawn by Nestor Redondo and translated into English for the first time). These are supplemented by illustrations from pioneering Christian cartoonists Frank Beard, E. J. Pace, Vaughn Shoemaker, and Jack Hamm. This book is a kindred volume to GLORY TO GOD which, at 80 pages, follows a similar thematic format of Bible stories, historical accounts, and modern day testimonies of people from various parts of the world.

I really enjoyed sharing his spiritual journey in the new comics anthology, as it is something I've seen touched upon in other comics about him, but never as the main focus of the story. I found many different quotes from him of his faith in Jesus Christ, and of his daily prayer life and God's blessing of it, and put them in the narrative in proper context.
The HALLELUJAH anthology is doing very well, selling across North America as well as Europe. I hope to have my next book out this fall (it is completed; it merely has to go to press).
Blessings,
Alec
I almost forgot Danny Bulanadi! He's another Filipino brother in Christ who used to work in secular comics and is more recently doing work for Michael Pearl and for Kingstone.
Calvary Comics said:
Yes, Nestor Redondo is generally regarded as the best Filipino artist to work in comics, and that's saying a lot! A few come close to giving him a run for his money, such as his predecessor Francisco Coching, or his contemporaries Tony de Zuniga, Alfredo Alcala, and Alex Nino, or the following generation such as Leinil Yu. Another great difference is that Nestor surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in the early 1980s. The only other Filipino artist who has worked professionally in secular comics who is born again is Rico Rival (artist of the BROTHER YUN graphic novel). I mentioned secular, because Johnny Yngente drew the United Bible Society comics titles in the 1980s.
A few years ago I obtained permission from Open Doors to reprint MARX, LENIN, MAO, & CHRIST, a comic originally published in 1977 and drawn by the Redondo Studio (Nestor and his brother Frank Redondo, with numerous assistants). It compares and contrast the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the false tenets of Communism, Socialism, and Maoism. I saw how quickly the US is becoming a socialist nation and felt compelled to get this one back in print. The quality of life will drop severely here in the upcoming decades, should the Lord tarry in coming. We are witnessing the erosion of the middle class and what will be left is a small group of haves and a very large group of have-nots. These same conditions occurred just before the French Revolution of 1789 and the Russian Revolution of 1917, to cite only two among many such examples. History repeats itself again and again. "Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." Proverbs 14:34

Beautiful!
Actually, Brien, only the logos of the publications are meant to load in the slide show, so you saw the Hallelujah scan correctly. If you click on any of the slide images, then the entire image will show, along with access to preview pages.
Best regards,
Alec
What fun to go through the new site. Only a portion of the Hallelujah slide loads...slowly, but the navigation arrows and drop downs work quickly and flawlessly. Always love seeing the EJ Pace artwork again. Thanks Alec!
