(Also, just for the record, I disagree with the Southern Babtist Convention on several things that I don't want to get into right now, but I still think the article was very applicable, for lack of a better word. I also respect the beliefs of ALL CCAS members, no matter their denomination. Please don't use this forum to get into a huge debate about theological issues that DON'T deal with the topic at hand. That is an interesting article and makes me wonder about your main character's connection to animals. Surely, when she changes form, she doesn't become the animal from a mental state, right? Won't she keep her human mind and still be able to reason, plan, and remember like a human?
How closely does Brianna connect to the animal forms she changes into? Does she have empathy for the animals or some type of mental connection to them? Does it interfere with her ability to solve cases or does it enhance them?
You could bring some of the article's animal concepts into your story, but you run the risk of having your story be too much about "How does Brianna feel about animals" instead of "How does Brianna use animal forms to accomplish her goals?"
