  • Great! Thanks I paid the site a visit.
I'll try it out & maybe use Morethanatimelord or Tombaker369 usernames. Should I create a password to go with any of them or should I just try a NEW username & password?
  • Check out: www.outpostwho.com and look for the Toyroom section. There are some brilliantly talented modellers out there who can also do casting etc. Because they "do" Doctor Who, a lot of them specialise in the 5"-6" scales. Usernames to look for: Morethanatimelord, Bernie Fishnotes, Marwood, Tombaker369 there are others. You have to sign up to the forum but it's worth while and I know they've done commissions in the past.
  • Cool! Thanks. I'll have to check them out. Also your "garage-kit" suggestion is an interesting suggestion.

I'd recommend finding a polymer clay sculptor or garage kit builder (check out "Kitbuilders Magazine" and "Amazing Figure Modeler" magazine). They can sculpt you up a base figure, build an RTV silicon mold, and then use either resin or vinyl as casting material. Some assembly and painting required... While articulated action figures would be prohibitive cost wise, selling your heros as 'garage kits' in resin or vinyl is a great cost effective way to reach out to your hobbiest fans. Having a guy assemble and paint them and selling them as limited edition statues is also an option (again, cost is the big issue).

Its all give and take... But well worth looking into. I've done some sculpting with polymer clay, and if you are interested in learning, I'll post links to a few good books to read to get you started!
  • Thanks, I've seen them before on the web. They seem okay for the larger size action figures. Hopefully I can find one for the smaller size as well.
