Black lives matter

Black Lives Matter. Sure, all lives matter but dark-skinned minorities feel they are proportionally far more likely to suffer violence(from many sources) than whites, and statistics from many sources back that fear.  Fear, despair and individual worth are spiritual as well as political issues and by God’s mercy we should be especially concerned about violence against minorities.  What should the creators and artists at CCAS do?

1)Do Pray specifically. Get Names and familiarize yourself with the facts so you can knowledgably pray and discuss the events in: Dallas, Baton Rouge and Falcon heights Minnesota. Write those names down and tape them to the headboard of your bed.

2) Unless you are personally involved with one of these cases, don’t judge the involved people. Express sympathy, hope, possible answers but resist playing the ‘Blame game.’

3) As led by the Lord and common sense, express your faith and concern in action: send a letter of support to involved people, churches or NGO’s in the area, attend a peaceful rally or express yourself in an online forum.

4) Create.

  • I really come against the media for throwing more fuel on the fire. There is definitely a lot of healing that the people groups of America need but the media's attempts to divide and destroy is flat out evil.

ALL lives matter. I do not need this insulting condescension. It's more complicated than just "black vs white." It glosses over the real issue of our hearts.  Out of the heart flows the issues of life.

Jesus Messiah, settle peace and Godly unity in this nation.  Cause people to connect in the truth instead of being driven apart by evil schemes.  It is a cursed thing to cause division among brethren.

We need to PRAY for and cover each other and give the tired, weary world a place to finally come home, rest and meet the Lord with repentance.  That is our job.

  • Hey KG,

When you write about an emotionally charged issue, chances are that somebody will be hurt or offended. If you write about race, abortion and abusive relationships you could potentially offend three times the number of people. Ouch!  Writers can risk offending readers if they have authority, authority that comes from knowledge (research), experience and/or the Holy Spirit.

Before I wrote my short discussion piece on ‘Black Lives matter,” I did some research and drew on my limited experience in living the rationally mixed area of a racially-mixed state. If the Lord is leading you to write about a black female being forced to have an abortion, you will definitely want to do a lot of research online,  interviews and perhaps some fieldtrips.  Keep praying and writing.

  • This is very encouraging. I make an extra effort to include characters of many races in my series. I have a question. I'm working on a case in which a woman is arrested for murdering her boyfriend after he coerced her into having an abortion, and I thought about making the defendant of African descent to draw attention to the large number of black babies killed in abortions. Do you think that's acceptable?
