ART SLAM 2010 was a huge success; a perfect opportunity for ALFG subscribers from several states to host come together in what turned out to be an offline Meet Up like never before!
Six visual artists stepped up to the plate for a night of friendly competition. All artists were simultaneously given the same topic to express on canvass. The word was “VISION”, and they had two hours to paint whatever that meant visually to them. The winner would be chosen at the end of the night by audience applause in a “Showtime at the Apollo” like format.
The excitement of the night was set to a soundtrack provided by the turntables of DJ Kutz of Fuze Unlimited, the young adult ministry of Redemption World Outreach Center. And nothing could replace the anointed lyrics of Greenville, SC’s own Kingdom Diplomats, a Christ-centered Hip Hop quartet.
Our gathering of anointed artists caught the attention of local celebrity Jamarcus Gaston, who found time to step away from his busy on air schedule with the local CBS show “Scene On 7” to serve as co-Master of Ceremony along with Angela McCarthy also of Fuze Unlimited.
Its one thing to connect with each of you here online each week, but it’s nothing like fellowshipping with you in person like we were blessed to do at ART SLAM!
To Caleb Rivera, Charlotte Smith, Fredrick Giles, Devin Smith, Karina Delanuez, and Rachel Relaford (a.k.a the winner of the event!), I thank each of you for sharing your time with me and for helping to make this vision a success!
Special Thanks to: Jay McAbee and the folks at Grille 33 @ The Channel, REJOICE Magazine, and Michael's Arts and Crafts.
